About Shannon

Shannon McLain, M.S. was born and raised in Southeastern Wisconsin.  She graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and neuroscience minor from Lawrence University.  Shortly after graduation, Shannon re-located to Houston, Texas.  Currently enrolled in Saybrook University’s College of Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences, Shannon has completed her Master’s of Science degree in Mind-Body Medicine and is working towards the completion of a doctoral degree in Integrative Medicine with a specialization in healthcare practice.  Throughout her studies at Saybrook University, Shannon has also become a certified health and wellness coach and integrative and functional nutrition practitioner.  Additionally, she has completed the professional training program through the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, located in Washington, DC.  This intensive training prepared Shannon to work with powerful and effective evidence-based healing therapies.  These techniques serve to empower individuals who are coping with life changes, stress, and illnesses in an intimate and supportive group setting.

As a mind-body medicine practitioner, Shannon is committed to helping individuals reach their fullest potential as they discover how to achieve a balanced and meaningful lifestyle by attending to all areas of wellness.  She is passionate about educating individuals on the importance of self-care and the various avenues in which self-care can be achieved through mind-body approaches.  As an integrative practitioner, Shannon recognizes the intimate connection between mind and body, and shares this knowledge to advocate healthy, personal change within her community.​​

Philosophy of Service
Optimal well-being is born out of the integration of mind, body, and spirit.  Of these three cornerstones of well-being, awareness and mindfulness are fundamental for achieving deep healing and personal change.  Moment-to-moment awareness allows us to see where we are, to appreciate the powerful way in which the world affects us, and to observe thoughts, feelings, and sensations.  Mobilizing the mind through awareness is the primary mechanism behind the services that Shannon provides.  In her professional work with clients, Shannon establishes an ongoing relationship to facilitate personal development by providing individualized care and mindfully guiding each person towards optimal health and wellness.  Her highest priority is to create a personalized life design for her clients to help each individual flourish and thrive.
